“Having the knowledge to know why someone is hurting coupled with the ability to treat and make the individual feel better is very rewarding.”

-Eddie Gonzalez, PTA

Eddie joins Compass Physical Therapy as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Originally from San Jose, California, Eddie moved to the Central Valley at the age of 10. From a very young age, Eddie began playing soccer. His love for the sport took him as far as Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico where he played professionally.

What started Eddie on the road to physical therapy? “Playing soccer is synonymous with injuries; therefore I was really intrigued with injury prevention and the musculoskeletal system. I had the opportunity to meet several physical therapists throughout my athletic career. The profession of physical therapy is fascinating. Having the knowledge to know why someone is hurting coupled with the ability to treat and make the individual feel better is very rewarding.”

Eddie was notably a part of the professional soccer teams, Estudiantes Tecos UAG and Club Deportivo Oro. When asked about what he loved most about playing soccer he states, “The ability to focus on the soccer match and nothing else is therapeutic. I always enjoyed winning the ball from my opponent to regain possession. I love the smell of fresh cut grass. Also, the sound of the final whistle knowing we won.” Eddie was also a member of Fresno Pacific University’s Men’s Soccer Team where they became Regional Champions in 2013.

Eddie believes in the importance of educating a patient throughout their recovery. He is focused on equipping his patients with basic knowledge on their diagnosis and how their particular treatment plan will aid in the healing process. Eddie graduated from the Institute of Technology’s Physical Therapist Assistant Program and is licensed by the Physical Therapy Board of California.

During his free time, Eddie still loves to play soccer, travel as much as possible, and can be found dancing all types of music! Most importantly, he enjoys spending time with his loved ones. With years of athletic experience, Eddie has a few bits of advice for young athletes: “Enjoy the game as much as you can, never underestimate the fundamentals of any sport, and keep practicing!”

With Eddie’s athletic mindset and sincerity in serving others, Compass Physical Therapy is confident he will make wonderful contributions to our community. From young athletes to motivated individuals, Eddie’s knowledge will be a valuable asset to their rehabilitation journey.
